General settings

The General Settings panel in sellerboard lets you customize how your account calculates profit, handles costs, and displays data. To access it, go to Settings → General and click the Settings button next to any of your accounts. A modal window will open with five tabs: VAT, FBM Pick & Pack, Calculation Logic, Data Retention, and Other Settings.

VAT Tab

This tab controls how VAT is applied to Amazon fees and advertising costs. These settings are particularly relevant for sellers registered for VAT in the EU or other jurisdictions where Amazon charges VAT on its fees.

Amazon fees include VAT and I’ll be able to recover it Check this box to confirm that your company is charged VAT on Amazon fees starting August 2024 and that you are entitled to recover it. When activated, sellerboard will treat your Amazon fees as inclusive of recoverable VAT — meaning the displayed Amazon fees on your dashboard will be reduced by the VAT rate of your company’s registration country. This change affects data from August 2024 onward.

Add local VAT to the advertising costs Enable this option if Amazon charges additional VAT on top of your advertising costs. When checked, you must also enter the applicable VAT rate (as a percentage). sellerboard will then increase your advertising costs by that rate in all calculations. This applies to sellers in certain countries where Amazon applies an additional tax to PPC spend — for example, Indonesia and Australia at 10%, Albania at 20%.

FBM Pick & Pack Tab

This tab lets you configure the default pick-and-pack costs for Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) orders. These costs are factored into your profit calculations for FBM shipments.

Price per package The packaging cost charged per package in an order. This is a fixed per-package fee. For example, if you set this to $0.50 and an order contains two packages, the total packaging cost will be $1.00.

Price per item The picking cost charged per individual item in an order. For example, if you set this to $0.10 and an order contains four items, the total picking cost will be $0.40.

Different price per item for the first X items This checkbox enables a tiered picking cost structure. When activated, you can set a different (typically higher) price per item for the first X items in an order, after which the standard price per item applies. For example, if you set the first-item price to $1.00 for 1 item and $0.50 for each additional item, an order with 6 items would have a total picking cost of $3.50 (1 × $1.00 + 5 × $0.50).

Calculation Logic Tab

This tab contains a collection of advanced toggles that control how sellerboard calculates your costs, fees, and profit figures. Each setting adjusts a specific aspect of the underlying calculation logic.

Amortize FBA storage fee daily When enabled, sellerboard distributes your total FBA storage fee evenly across each day of the month rather than recording it as a single lump sum. This gives you a more accurate and balanced day-by-day view of storage costs, preventing over- or under-charging on any given day.

Automatically reduce prep center stock when a new FBA inbound shipment is shipped sellerboard can automatically decrease your prep center inventory when items are sent in an FBA inbound shipment. Enable this option to activate those automatic stock updates. You can also specify a default prep center and a start date from which this behavior applies.

Ignore FBA inbound shipment costs By default, sellerboard imports inbound shipping costs from Seller Central and distributes them across products based on volume and weight. Enable this setting if you want to exclude these costs from the automatic calculation — for instance, if you prefer to manually account for specific inbound fees (such as the FBA international inbound freight fee) directly in your COGS.

Don’t show FBA shipping chargeback and giftwrap (doesn’t affect the profit calculation) Normally, shipping and gift wrap amounts are included in your total sales figure and then subtracted by Amazon as a fee of the exact same amount, resulting in no net profit impact. Enabling this option hides both numbers from your sales and fees display to reduce clutter. Note: this visual-only option does not work if VAT calculation is activated.

Ignore multi-channel orders When checked, sellerboard ignores multi-channel fulfillment (MCF) fees and the respective COGS from all profit and fee calculations. This is useful if you use Amazon to fulfill orders from other sales channels and don’t want those costs mixed into your Amazon profitability data.

Assume that pending returns are unsellable (affects the COGS) With this option enabled, sellerboard assumes that any item in a pending return state cannot be resold. This affects your Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accordingly. When the return actually arrives and its condition is confirmed, sellerboard corrects the assumption based on the actual state of the returned item.

Ignore deferred refunds until released By default, deferred refunds appear in your dashboard immediately and then move to their actual release date — which can retroactively change past profit figures. Turning on this option hides deferred refunds until they are officially released, keeping your historical profit data stable. Note: existing deferred refunds that are already recorded will remain unchanged.

Use net sales for margin calculation When enabled, sellerboard calculates your profit margin based on net sales (i.e., sales excluding VAT). This is recommended for VAT-registered sellers who want to exclude VAT from the margin formula, providing a more accurate picture of true profitability.

Data Retention Tab

This tab controls how long sellerboard stores your account data, in compliance with data protection regulations (such as GDPR).

I must store data in sellerboard for longer than 18 months due to regulatory compliance reasons Select this option if your business is required to retain financial or analytical records beyond 18 months — for example, to support audits, financial statements, or company valuation. When selected, you can manually set a custom data retention period (in months) in the “Data retention period” field. The default value is 120 months (10 years).

I do not need to store data in sellerboard for longer than 18 months for regulatory compliance reasons Select this option if you have no legal requirement to keep data beyond 18 months. sellerboard will then automatically delete your data after the 18-month period.

Data retention period This field (only relevant when the first option is selected) lets you specify exactly how many months of data sellerboard should retain before automatically deleting it.

Other Settings Tab

This tab contains miscellaneous account-level preferences related to notifications, integrations, and display options.

Autoresponder: sender email address Enter the email address that will appear as the sender when sellerboard’s Autoresponder module sends emails to your buyers. This email address must be authorized as a sender in your Amazon Seller Central account to comply with Amazon’s messaging policies.

Cashflow: Account for Amazon payouts starting at Set the date from which Amazon payouts should be considered relevant in the Cashflow view. sellerboard will use this start date as the beginning point for tracking Amazon payout data in your cashflow reports.

Receive daily sales reports per email at Check this box and select a time from the dropdown to have sellerboard automatically email you a daily sales report containing your most important KPIs. This is a convenient way to stay on top of your performance without logging into the dashboard every day.

Ignore inactive listings When enabled, sellerboard will exclude inactive listings from your reports and calculations, keeping your dashboard focused on products that are currently live and selling.

Enable sellerboard widget in Seller Central When checked, sellerboard displays a profit widget directly within your Amazon Seller Central interface, giving you at-a-glance profitability data without leaving Seller Central.

Enable dashboard currency switch Activating this option adds a currency switcher to your dashboard, allowing you to view all data in your preferred currency. Currency conversion is based on the exchange rate from the last day of the selected reporting period, so daily values may vary slightly due to exchange rate fluctuations.

Saving Your Changes

After adjusting any settings across the tabs, click Apply to confirm your changes for the current account. Click Cancel to discard any unsaved changes and close the modal. Note that these settings are configured per account — if you manage multiple Amazon accounts in sellerboard, you will need to open the Settings modal for each account separately.
