The Reimbursement Gap page helps you identify cases where Amazon did reimburse inventory, but the reimbursement amount was lower than your actual cost of goods sold (COGS).
In these situations, Amazon acknowledges responsibility for the inventory, but the compensation does not fully cover your costs. sellerboard highlights these gaps so you can review them and request the missing amount within Amazon’s claim window.
Use this page to:
- Detect underpaid FBA reimbursements
- Compare Amazon reimbursements against your actual COGS
- Estimate how much money is still missing
- Prepare structured follow-ups for Seller Support
How the reimbursement gap is calculated
sellerboard compares:
- The reimbursement amount paid by Amazon, and
- The actual COGS of the product at the time of reimbursement
If Amazon’s reimbursement is lower than your COGS, sellerboard flags the case as a reimbursement gap.
At the top of the page, you’ll see an Estimated reimbursement amount, which represents the total estimated shortfall across all currently detected cases.
This value is an estimate. Amazon may approve, partially approve, or reject a follow-up claim.
Data range and claim window
Reimbursement Gap analysis is limited to a 60-day window.
This aligns with Amazon’s typical reimbursement claim deadline. To maximize recovery chances, it’s important to:
- Review this page regularly
- Act on cases before the claim window expires
Selecting a time period
- Use the Period date selector.
- Choose a start and end date (up to 60 days from today).
- Apply the selection to refresh the report.

Open a support ticket under:
Fulfillment by Amazon → Other issue
This category is typically used when disputing reimbursement amounts that are lower than expected.

Using the support message template
sellerboard provides a ready-made message to simplify communication.
How do I access the template?

- Click Show template.
- Copy the text and paste it into your Seller Central support case.
The template references the reimbursement discrepancy and requests the missing amount based on documented COGS.
Best practices for reimbursement gap cases
To improve your chances of success:
- Submit one case at a time
- Include the downloaded sellerboard report
- Reference the exact reimbursement ID and product
- Clearly state the expected reimbursement based on COGS
- Stay within the 60-day claim window
Opening multiple cases simultaneously can reduce clarity and delay responses.
Possible outcomes
Amazon may respond with:
- Full reimbursement of the missing amount
- Partial reimbursement
- Rejection of the claim
sellerboard’s estimated reimbursement amount is intended for prioritization and follow-up, not as a guarantee.
