Products

The Products page is where you manage all product-level data that feeds sellerboard’s profit calculations. This includes COGS, tags, FBM shipping costs, return values, and visibility settings for dashboards and reports.

Changes made on this page directly affect your Profit Dashboard, P&L, Trends, and Charts.

Use the Products page to:

  • Maintain accurate COGS over time and per marketplace
  • Group products using tags
  • Manage FBM handling and shipping costs
  • Review estimated profit per unit
  • Control which products appear in reports

Finding and filtering products

You can quickly locate products using the search bar at the top of the page.

You can filter by:

  • Product name
  • SKU
  • ASIN
  • Tag

Click into the search bar, enter your value, and press Enter.

💡 There is no date-based filtering on the Products page. Dates are applied in dashboards and reports.

Managing COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)

COGS is one of the most important inputs in sellerboard. It determines how costs are applied to orders and directly impacts profit calculations.

How do I add or update COGS for a product?

  1. Go to Profit → Products.
  2. Locate the product row.
  3. Click on the COGS value.

This opens the Edit COGS panel, where you can manage costs by batch, period, and marketplace.

How does COGS work in sellerboard?

sellerboard calculates COGS using batch-based or time-based logic.
The legacy “Constant” COGS type is no longer available.

You can choose between the following accounting methods:

  • FIFO (First In, First Out)
Costs are applied based on the order in which inventory batches were received.
  • Weighted average
Costs are averaged across available inventory.
  • By period
Define a cost that applies to a specific date range.

Each product can have:

  • Multiple batches
  • Different costs per Amazon marketplace
  • Independent accounting methods per marketplace

How do I manage COGS by batch?

Inside the COGS editor, you can:

  • Add new batches with receipt date, units, and unit cost
  • Track remaining quantity per batch
  • See whether a batch is Active or Depleted
  • Edit cost elements for detailed breakdowns (e.g. product cost, packaging, inbound shipping)

💡 Batch-based COGS is especially useful for products with changing supplier prices or multiple inventory shipments.

Managing COGS for different marketplaces

To set different costs per marketplace:

  1. Click the COGS value for a product.
  2. Switch between marketplace tabs (e.g. Amazon.com, Amazon.ca).
  3. Enter or edit batches separately for each marketplace.

Each Amazon country marketplace is calculated independently.

Tags

Tags allow you to group and analyze products across dashboards and reports.

How do I add or update tags?

  1. Click into the Tags field for a product.
  2. Type a new tag or select an existing one.

Tags can be used for:

  • Filtering dashboards
  • Grouping products in reports
  • Comparing performance across collections (e.g. FBA, Seasonal, Bundles)

FBM shipping costs

For FBM products, you can define handling and shipping costs directly on the Products page.

How do I set FBM shipping costs?

  1. Locate the FBM shipping cost column.
  2. Enter:
    • A flat value (e.g. 3.50)
    • Or a formula (e.g. 1.00 + 2.00)

Formulas are useful when part of your cost is fixed and part varies per order.

Unsellable returns value

The Value of unsellable returns (%) represents how much of your COGS you recover when Amazon marks a return as unsellable.

How does this work?

  • Enter a percentage of COGS (e.g. 15%)
  • This value is applied when calculating refund-related losses
  • Typical use cases:
    • Supplier reimbursements
    • Refurbishment value
    • Salvage resale

Profit per unit

The Profit per unit column provides a quick profitability estimate for each product.

What’s included in this calculation?

Hover over the value to see a breakdown of:

  • Product price
  • COGS
  • Amazon FBA fee
  • Referral fee
  • VAT (if applicable)

💡 This is an estimate meant for fast comparison. Final profit is calculated in dashboards and reports.

Importing product data in bulk

How do I import product data?

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Products page.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Choose one of the tabs:
    • By product – bulk edit product attributes
    • By batch – manage COGS changes over time or per shipment
    • By order – set per-order costs (useful for FBM)
  4. Download the template.
  5. Fill in your data (COGS, tags, shipping costs, etc.).
  6. Upload the file or paste a Google Sheet URL.

What happens if I leave fields blank?

Blank fields do not overwrite existing data.
Only populated cells will update values.
