The Products page in Autoresponder allows you to define short, human-readable names for your products. These names are used in custom autoresponder email templates to make review request messages feel more natural and customer-friendly.
Instead of inserting long Amazon product titles into emails, you can reference a short product name that reads better in everyday language.
What the Autoresponder Products page is used for
This page is not used to control which products receive emails.
Its purpose is purely content-related.
You use it to:
- Assign short product names (“nicknames”)
- Insert those names dynamically into custom email templates
- Improve the tone and readability of review request emails
If you only use Amazon’s default “Request a Review” template, this page is optional.
Product nicknames and placeholders
How product nicknames work
Each product can be assigned a short name, such as:
- “Water bottle”
- “Phone stand”
- “Kitchen organizer”
In custom email templates, you can then use the placeholder:
{{product_short_name}}
When an email is sent, sellerboard automatically replaces the placeholder with the nickname defined on this page.
Where nicknames appear
Nicknames can be used in:
- Email subject lines
- Email body text
They are only applied to future emails sent after the nickname is set or updated.
Managing product nicknames
How do I assign or edit a nickname?
- Go to Autoresponder → Products.
- Find the product in the list.
- Enter or update the short name in the nickname field.
- Save the changes.
The nickname is immediately available for use in templates.
Can I use the same nickname for multiple products?
Yes. There are no restrictions on reusing the same nickname across products.
However, using more specific names can make emails feel more personal.
Campaign visibility
How do I know which campaigns use a product?
The Campaign column shows all autoresponder campaigns that include each product.
This helps you:
- Verify that a product is correctly targeted
- Understand where nickname changes will take effect
Bulk updates via import
How do I update nicknames in bulk?
For larger catalogs, you can update product nicknames using import.
- Go to Autoresponder → Products.
- Click Import at the bottom of the page.
- Download the template.
- Fill in or update nicknames for multiple products.
- Upload the file.
Only fields included in the import file are updated. Existing data is preserved unless overwritten.
Search and filtering
How do I find a product quickly?
Use the search bar at the top of the page to search by:
- Product name
- SKU
- ASIN
This is especially useful when managing large catalogs.
When product nicknames are not required
Product nicknames are optional.
You do not need to use this page if:
- You only use Amazon’s default review request template
- You do not reference product names in custom templates
Nicknames are only required when using the {{product_short_name}} placeholder.
