Shipping costs

The Shipping Costs section lets you define how FBM shipping costs are calculated in sellerboard using Shipping Profiles.

Shipping Profiles allow you to model real-world shipping logic—flat rates, tiered pricing, weight-based rules, or order-based costs—and apply them to specific products and time periods.

These costs are automatically included in profit calculations across dashboards and reports.

What are FBM Shipping Profiles?

An FBM Shipping Profile is a set of rules that determines how shipping costs are calculated for FBM orders.

Each profile can:

  • Apply to all products or selected SKUs
  • Be active only during a specific time range
  • Use different calculation rules (price, units, weight, etc.)
  • Support tiered pricing and zones
  • Use custom currencies and units

If no custom profile is assigned, sellerboard falls back to the Default profile.

Creating a new FBM shipping profile

How do I create a shipping profile?

  1. Go to Profit → Shipping Costs.
  2. Click Add profile.
  3. Enter a profile name.
  4. Set the active date range (start and optional end date).
  5. Choose whether the profile applies to:
    • All products
    • Only selected products
  6. Select a shipping cost calculation rule.
  7. Configure units, currency, and pricing logic.
  8. Click Save.

Shipping cost calculation rules

When creating or editing a profile, choose one of the following rules:

  • No shipping cost
    No shipping cost is applied.
  • Shipping cost = what the client is charged
Uses the shipping amount charged to the customer on the order.
  • Based on order price
Shipping cost depends on the total order value.
  • Based on number of units
Shipping cost scales with item quantity.
  • Based on package weight
Shipping cost is calculated using product or package weight.

Some rules support tiered pricing (see below).

Tiered shipping prices

Can I set tiered shipping prices?

Yes. Tiered pricing is available for:

  • Order price
  • Number of units
  • Weight-based rules

When configuring a tiered profile, you can:

  • Add rows for price, quantity, or weight ranges
  • Add columns for zones, regions, or shipping methods
  • Enter the corresponding shipping cost for each tier

This is useful for:

  • Domestic vs international shipping
  • Courier pricing brackets
  • Zone-based fulfillment models

Units and currency

Can I set units and currency?

Yes. While creating or editing a profile, you can define:

  • Currency (e.g. USD, EUR)
  • Weight units (kg or lbs)
  • Dimension units (cm or inches)

Make sure these settings match your packaging and courier data to avoid incorrect calculations.

Assigning shipping profiles to products

Where do I assign a shipping profile?

  1. Go to Profit → Products.
  2. Locate the Shipping profile column.
  3. Use the dropdown to assign a profile to each product (SKU).

What happens if multiple profiles apply?

If multiple profiles overlap for the same SKU:

  • sellerboard applies the profile with:
    1. The most specific product assignment, and
    2. The latest start date

This allows you to override general profiles with more specific ones when needed.

What if no profile is assigned?

If no custom profile is assigned:

  • sellerboard applies the Default profile
  • The Default profile has no shipping logic by default

💡 To avoid missing or zero shipping costs, make sure the Default profile is configured or assign custom profiles to your FBM products.

Applying profiles to specific products

Can I apply a profile to only some products?

Yes.

During profile creation or editing:

  1. Select Only selected products.
  2. Click Edit products.
  3. Choose the SKUs you want to include.

The profile will only apply to those products during the defined time period.

Editing and duplicating profiles

How do I edit or duplicate a profile?

  1. Go to Profit → Shipping Costs.
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to a profile.
  3. Choose:
    • Edit to modify the existing profile
    • Duplicate to create a copy and adjust it

Duplicating profiles is useful when adjusting rates for new periods or regions.

Importing shipping costs by order

How do I upload shipping costs by order?

  1. Go to Profit → Shipping Costs.
  2. Scroll down to Import shipping cost by order.
  3. Upload your file:
    • CSV
    • Excel
    • Google Sheets URL
  4. Use the provided template to ensure correct formatting.

This method allows you to assign exact shipping costs per order, which is especially useful for:

  • FBM fulfillment
  • Variable courier charges
  • External logistics providers

Where shipping costs appear

Shipping costs from profiles are included in:

  • Profit Dashboard
  • Product-level profitability
  • P&L view
  • Charts
  • Orders view (where applicable)

They are treated as part of the FBM cost structure and directly affect net profit.

International and zone-based shipping

Can I use profiles for international zones?

Yes.

You can:

  • Add zones or regions as columns in tiered pricing tables
  • Enter zone-specific shipping rates
  • Assign profiles based on expected delivery destinations

This allows you to model international fulfillment scenarios accurately.

Common questions

Do shipping profiles affect historical orders?
Yes. Shipping costs are recalculated based on profile rules and active date ranges.

Can I mix profiles and per-order imports?
Yes. Per-order imports override profile-based calculations for those specific orders.

Are shipping profiles only for FBM?
Yes. FBA shipping and fulfillment fees are automatically imported from Amazon and do not use shipping profiles.
